Designing for Nonprofit Organizations
Because most websites run by non-profits are generally updated
by volunteers and resources are so thin, consistency of design,
careful documentation, well organized templates and training
are essentials during the design of any nonprofit site. In
addition a careful understanding of the resources allocated
to technology with the organization, and the goals of the
site are important.
Often the designer must serve to educate the organization
about the advantages of their web presence as well as the
best use of the technology they are currently employing. In
addition, by making the volunteers - as well as the organization
- more comfortable with technology and the web as a tool for
the nonprofit, they can better utilize it to extend their
message.
